Dashboard
Understand dashboard tabs, widgets, filters, and configuration options.
This page consolidates the myosh dashboard guidance into a single category page for the basics collection.
Dashboard Overview
The myosh Dashboard is an interactive business intelligence area that displays key data collected from myosh modules and, in some cases, other configured sources. It provides a visual overview of important metrics soon after login.
Purpose
The dashboard helps users understand trends, status, and performance indicators by presenting data in widgets such as charts, graphs, tables, and maps, organised into configurable tabs.
Data Sources and Updates
Dashboard data is typically refreshed overnight, so it usually reflects the system state from within the last 24 hours.
Access and Visibility
The dashboard is usually visible from the home page after login. What you see depends on how tabs, widgets, permissions, and hierarchy filters are configured for your user.
Dashboard Filters
Global Filters
Global filters apply to all widgets across all tabs.
Date Range Filter
- Use the quick date range dropdown for standard periods such as
Last 12 months,Current Year,Previous Fiscal Year, orLast 30 days - You can also pick exact dates with the
FromandTocalendar controls - Date range selections are usually not remembered after logout
Hierarchy Filter
- Use the
Hierarchydropdown to filter data by values such as Company, Division, Department, or Site - Move selected values into the active criteria
- Save the filter to apply it
- Hierarchy selections are usually remembered the next time you log in
Widget-Specific Filters
Some widgets offer their own custom filters that apply only to that widget.
- Open dashboard
Editmode - Select the funnel icon on the widget
- Choose the relevant fields and values
- Save the widget filter
These settings are usually remembered for the next login.
Clearing All Filters
If available, a Clear Filters button removes both global and widget-specific filters across the dashboard.
Dashboard Widget Types
The widget library can include several visualisation types.
- Maps show geographical data using pin or heat markers
- Table charts list records in rows and columns and often support export
- Pie charts show proportions of a whole
- Bar, column, and stacked column charts compare quantities across categories
- Difference charts compare two numerical fields as a percentage
- KPI target charts compare key metrics against a target value
- Grouping charts aggregate results into configured higher-level groups
Widgets are interactive, and selecting a data point often opens a list of matching records or more detail.
Managing Dashboard Widgets
Widget Library
Each customer has an individual widget library containing charts, tables, maps, and graphs relevant to the modules they use.
Adding a Widget
- Open the tab where you want the widget.
- Enter
Editmode. - Open the
Add a widget...dropdown. - Select the widget you want.
- Save the tab changes.
Widget Customisation
Use the gear icon to configure widget settings such as:
- how many series to show, for example all, top 5, top 10, or top 30
- label display and decimal places for pie charts
- custom labels and colours for specific series
- manual sort order
- whether blank or
nonevalues should be hidden - whether the legend is shown
Changes made by admins or layout admins can apply globally to everyone using that widget.
Filtering Widgets
Use the funnel icon to apply widget-specific filters. This is especially useful when a single widget should stay focused on a narrower slice of data than the rest of the dashboard.
Resizing Widgets
Use the gear icon to switch between normal width and full width.
Deleting Widgets
Use the gear icon and choose Delete to remove the widget from the current tab. This does not remove it from the widget library itself.
Exporting Widgets and Tabs
- Individual widgets can usually be exported from their own export control
- Entire tabs can usually be exported from the dashboard toolbar
Dashboard Configuration and Layouts
Configuration Permissions
Dashboard configuration depends on user role.
- Admin users can usually add, edit, remove, export, and configure default tabs and widgets
- Layout Admin users typically have the same access plus the ability to assign tab access and edit rights to other users
- Other users may be limited to viewing assigned tabs or managing only their own tabs, depending on permissions
Dashboard Layout
Each user has a dashboard layout made up of one or more tabs. These can include a mix of default tabs and personal tabs.
Default Tabs
Default tabs are configured by a layout administrator and assigned to users. They usually appear first in the tab order.
To manage a default tab:
- Enter
Editmode. - Open
Layout Administration. - Assign users or roles with read-only or modification access.
- Set tab weight to control tab order.
- Save the changes.
Individual Tabs
Users with permission can create their own personal tabs.
- Select the
+button on the tab menu. - Enter a name and add the tab.
- Enter
Editmode. - Rename, delete, reorder, and add widgets as needed.
- Save the tab.
The number of tabs and widgets can affect dashboard loading time.
